It doesn't matter if you are here on business or pleasure, there is plenty do do in the local area for your entertainment.

The Crown Inn is 5 minutes walk. It is an unspoilt Old Country Inn that provides real ales, home cooked food at lunchtimes - local trout, salmon etc., and log fires in winter. Former CAMRA pub of the year.

The Nelson Arms - also 5 minutes walk. Rustic Country Pub serving good food - carvery every day at a very reasonable price.

The Stag & Hounds - less than 10 minutes stroll. Large Pub with Restaurant offering 2 main course meals for the price of one except Sunday lunch 12 - 4 pm. Extensive menu.

The Churchill Inn - 10 minutes stroll. Good gardens for children. Also 2 for 1 on main courses.

There is also a good takeaway selling fish & chips, we are happy to supply cutlery & condiments should you wish to have this.







Cheddar Gorge is just 3 miles away. Cheddar is Britain's biggest gorge - has 2 show caves, a Stalagmite and the Crystal Quest Dark Wall Fantasy Adventure and has many other attractions including Jacobs Ladder and look-out Tower, cliff top walks and picnic areas. Cheddar is also famous for its strawberries and cheese.

Avon Ski centre dry ski slope is on the edge of the Mendip Hills a 165 metre main dry slope with bends, moguls and jumps. The Avon Ski Centre provides one of the best flood lit skiing facilities and is only a short 5 minute drive from Clumber Lodge.


Wells & Glastonbury are within easy reach of Clumber Lodge approximately half an hours drive. See Glastonbury Tor and the Abbey.

Trout fishing is available at Blagdon & Chew Valley Lakes.

Wookey Hole Caves - an attraction approximately 10 miles away en route to Wells

Clumber Lodge is ideally situated for hill walking over the Mendips. Many trails available. Wonderful walks and glorious scenery.


Bristol City is only 12 miles away with its new shopping mall, Cabot Circus. Other attractions include the Harbourside, offering interesting walks with good eateries, the SS Great Britain and John Cabot's Matthew. There are Art Galleries, Museums, Theatres, and don't forget to visit Bristol Zoo.

We are only a few miles from Bristol Airport, so wether you are flying in for a business trip, or for leisure, we are sure we can cater to your needs.

The Georgian city of Bath is a scenic 45 minute drive from Clumber Lodge. Bath is a unique city with much to explore including hot springs, Roman Baths, splendid Abbey and Georgian stone crescents, which have attracted visitors for centuries. Set in rolling Somerset countryside, it is a beautiful and unforgettable place to visit.
